The Square Knot:

1.   Bring the left-hand cord over the right-hand cord and around.

2.    Then place right over left and bring it through the loop.

The Surgeons Knot:

A surgeon's knot is a stronger version of a square knot. Because it has an
extra loop-through, the top of the knot curls around the sides.

Begin as a square knot: left over right and around then right over left and through.
Go through the loop again, then tighten.

The FIGURE-EIGHT SLIDING STOPPER KNOT:

Form the tail into a loop around the cord, heading toward the back of the necklace.
Cross the end in front of the cord pointing toward the bead loop. Bring it around both
itself and the cord from back to front and slip the tail through the top loop alongside the cord.

The HALF stiTCH KNOT:

Come out a bead and form a loop perpendicular to the thread between beads
in the beadwork. Bring the needle under the strand away from the loop then over
the strand and through the loop

The lARK'S hEAD kNOT

A lark's head knot is commonly used to start macramé. Fold a cord in half and
lay it behind a ring, loop, car, etc. with the fold pointing down. Bring the ends
through the ring from back to front then through the fold and tighten.

The MACRAMÉ SQUARE KNOT:

For a spiral knot, tie one figure continuously.

Figure 1: Cross the right-hand cord over
the center cords and under the left-hand
cord. Bring the left-hand cord under the
center cords and through the loop formed
by the right-hand cord from back to front.
Keeping the center cords flat, tighten the
outer cords.

Figure 2: Cross the left-hand cord over
the center cords and under the right-hand
cord. Bring the right-hand cord under the
center cords and through the loop of the
left-hand cord from back to front. Tighten.

The CARRICK BEND:

1.
Make a loop with the end of one cord crossing over the tail. Cross
a second cord end over the loop from right to left. Then bring its end
under the tail of the first cord and over the strand.

2.
Bring the end under the bottom side of the loop, over itself,
and under the top side of the loop.

The FRONT-BACK-FRONT KNOT:

Figure 1:
Go through the loop on the clasp. Then thread one needle on each of the
two cords. Bring them back through the last bead, one cord at a time. Be
careful not to split the cord that is already in the bead.
Figure 2
: Tie the first half of a square
knot in front of the cord that runs through
the strand of beads.
Figure 3:
Turn the strand over and tie the second half of a square knot on the other
side of the strand. Turn the strand over once more and tie another half of a
square knot in front of the strand. Run both needles through the next bead
and make another front-back-front knot. Go through the third bead and make a
final front-back-front knot. End by going through the fourth bead and clip the cord
tails. Apply a tiny spot of G-S Hypo cement or clear nail polish to each of the knots for
added security.
